The Arizona Cardinals were a great balanced team this past season. They could do it all on both sides of the ball. One of the things they were great at was running the football. This is contributed by a trio of runningbacks throughout the year.
Chris Johnson was the starter when the year began, and he had a rebirth of his career when he was one of the leading rushers through the first half of the season. Chris Johnson was looking great, and he could have had well over a thousand yards if he didn't get hurt. That is what happens when you have age at the runningback position, injuries.
One runningback that isn't talked about that much in Arizona anymore is Andre Ellington. He was pretty solid until he had a drop off year. So now he is the third string runningback.
When Chris Johnson became injured, the rookie David Johnson took his place. David Johnson took the NFL by storm when he was having impressive games every week. He also played well throughout the playoffs. This leaves everyone with one question, what will the Cardinals backfield look like?
I believe the Arizona Cardinals will have David Johnson and Chris Johnson split carries equally. This allows David Johnson to stay healthier, because he is young and they do not want to overwork him at the start of his career.
